Current CEDRR project

Overview of the project

After successfully completing the pilot project, the Community Engagement for Disaster Risk Reduction (CEDRR) team has refined our engagement method, trained additional research assistants, and are ready to increase our level of engagement. We aim to conduct 4,500 engagements over the next 5 years.

Purpose

This research aims to understand how and whether households prepare for flood risk, and empower communities to be more prepared for flood events. Secondary aims include measuring the impacts of relationship building on participant behaviours and whether meaningful engagements result in ‘spill over effects’, or ripples of impact beyond our direct participants.

Activities and methods

We are currently partnering with the Castlemaine Goldfields Football Club and the Castlemaine Girl Guides to identify participants for our engagements. We will begin our engagements soon.
